Dr. Kami SimpsonDr. Kami Simpson has been employed at Jennings Veterinarians since her graduation from the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine with the class of 2004. Dr. Simpson grew up in the small town of Rising Sun, Indiana. Her parents, Stan and Linda Phillips, owned a small crop and livestock farm and kept her active on the farm. Experiences on the farm spurred her lifelong interest in becoming a veterinarian. During her childhood she was very involved in 4H showing many animals, including cattle, hogs, goats, rabbits, chickens, turkeys, dogs, and cats.

She especially enjoyed dog obedience training and spending time with her horse. In high school, she was active in several clubs and also enjoyed playing basketball, softball, and soccer. In 1996 she graduated from Rising Sun High School and began attending the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in biology at USI, and began her studies at Purdue in the fall of 2000. While in veterinary school, Dr. Simpson was a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners and enjoyed activities of the Equine Club. She married her high school sweetheart, Denton (also from Rising Sun) in 2001. Dr. Simpson won an award in 2002 for outstanding academic achievement and in 2004, won the senior student award for excellence in large and small animal medicine and surgery. Since 2004, Dr. Simpson and her husband have lived in North Vernon. She enjoys the variety of practicing both small and large animal medicine. She enjoys seeing and hopefully contributing to the bond between animals and humans. Her daughter, Alyssa, was born in June 2006. Her son, Landon, was born in May 2009. Denton began a career as an insurance agent at Farm Bureau Insurance in the fall of 2007. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling (the Grand Canyon, Mexico, Belize, the Bahamas, Jamaica...), playing and watching sports, and spending time outdoors. Dr. Simpson has 1 dog, 2 cats, and a small "herd" of two cows. She also has added a pony for her daughter to enjoy.
