Julie Gearries

I am Julie Gearries, one of the receptionists at Jennings Veterinarians. I work at the front desk to meet and greet you and your pets when you visit the office and to schedule appointments and answer your questions on the telephone.

I joined the team in February 1996 after being away from Jennings County for 15 years. I am a native of Jennings County, born and raised on Hicks Street in North Vernon. After graduating from Jennings County High School I started working at Muscatatuck State Hospital. My husband at the time enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1977 and we moved our family, a son and daughter, to Norfolk, Virginia. While living in Virginia Beach I started working as a kennel assistant for a small veterinary clinic. From those beginnings, I eventually became a veterinary assistant, receptionist, and eventually hospital manager. With two children, a husband at sea most of the year, and a full-time job, I still managed to get some business and law courses completed at Tidewater Community College.

My life is currently filled with my two dogs, Liberty Bell and Gunther, and two housecats, Trickster and Holly. I live on the family farm South of Vernon and enjoy spending time with family and friends.

I am currently taking courses to be certified as a dog trainer/instructor. I have been training dogs and puppies on my own for several years.

I believe you should never stop in your efforts to improve yourself and that one should always do their best to be honest, sincere, and follow through with anything you may say.

Megan Powless

Hi!. My name is Megan Powless. I am the newest face you will see in the office. I started working for Jennings Veterinarians in late October 2013. You will usually see me greeting you as you walk through the door, checking you in for your appointments, and answering the phones.

I have two dogs that are my only children for now. I have miniature Australian Shepherd named Pepper, who is sweet and shy, and a Boston Terrier named Dixie, who is well behaved and rotten all at the same time. Although the dogs have opposite personalities they play very well together and bring a lot of entertainment to the house.

pic of Carrie Short

Caroline Short

Welcome. My name is Caroline Short, better known around here as Carrie. I am a 1998 graduate of Jennings County High School.

I began my services for Jennings Veterinarians working part time in 1998, tried out other occupations for a while and hired back as a full time veterinary assistant in December 2000. The duties of an assistant to the doctors are not limited to restraining pets for the safety of all involved. We also fill prescriptions, educate pet parents, ensure the hospital is clean and sanitary, and a myriad of other things.

My interest and experience in the veterinary field began long before I began my work here. My mother, Julie Gearries, has worked in this business for 27 years, so veterinary clinics have been a second home to me. I was born in Indiana, but, being a navy brat, lived my first 16 years in Virginia Beach, VA. I have always had critters to care for and couldn't imagine a life without pets.

I feel that every animal is unique. I take pride in my patience to get to know the personality of each one I handle. I hope I can gain your beloved pets trust and help make their doctor visits as comfortable as possible. I will listen to your concerns and do my best to answer questions you may have about their well-being.

My time away from work is mostly spent at home with my other half (Carl), 2 daughters (Adrian, 11; Carmon, 6), 2 dogs(Cain, Merlyn), 4 cats (Willow, Pixie, Jade, Ariel). I have a thirst for knowledge and like to keep my brain busy. I enjoy puzzles, music, and being a "big kid". I have interests in the paranormal and out of the ordinary things. I dabble in woodwork and mechanics, and like the problem solving involved in fixing stuff. I love nature and enjoy the chances I get to relax and admire it.

Some of my hobbies and interests include "mudding", riding four wheelers, shopping, horseback riding, and hanging out with my friends and family.

Pic of Harry

Harold Stadtfeld

Hello, I am Harold Stadtfeld, "Harry" to most.

I came to Jennings County in 1996 after spending nearly 16 years in the United States Marine Corps. Over the years I have helped raise 6 children, the youngest of which is still in school. I have worked in a factory, spent many years in food service management, and even tried my hand at constuction.

I started working here at Jennings Veterinarians in April 2013 as the Large Animal Assistant. I find the job both challenging and rewarding, and hope to spend many years here learning and growing with the staff.
